" Ginger Jar and the chinese dragon"

I have always liked Pewter.  Somehow reminded me of old taverns and pirates sitting, drinking their ale out of pewter mugs and telling tall stories of hidden gold and coins and lost  treasure.. all spoils of war from any galleon they thought was worthy of the fight.

This is different art and fascinating too.. Its a vase i designed and  made from pewter.  Its hanging in my algarve apartment. Inspired by my younger son's love of chinese dragons and my love of pewter. .. its a Ginger jar..with a chinese dragon , a diamond eye to boot.. at the side are two long stems of the almond blossom tree. On a background of very thick black oil paint ,  ondulated with my spatula. Where the little blossoms are is pink oil paint..  I finished it off with a pewter bamboo frame.  I made this about 5 years ago. Its different
